AAF-CC Names Kiii’s
Georgiana Luna as Recipient of Prestigious Silver Medal Award
Chapter
recognizing AAF-CC President during September meeting at Corpus Christi Town Club
During the American Advertising Federation Corpus
Christi Chapter’s (AAF-CC) monthly meeting in September, the local advertising
club will recognize one of their own, Georgiana Luna, with the prestigious
Silver Medal Award. Luna is a sales and marketing consultant with Kiii-TV.
The American Advertising Federation's Silver Medal
Award program was established in 1959 to recognize men and women who have made
outstanding contributions to advertising and who have been active in furthering
the industry’s standards, creative excellence and responsibility in areas of
social concern. AAF member clubs award this honor to outstanding members of the
local advertising community when a member stands out.
AAF-CC’s Silver Medal Award luncheon
honoring Luna is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Sept. 11 at the Corpus
Christi Town Club, located at One Shoreline Plaza
(800 N. Shoreline Blvd.). Lunch is free for AAF-CC members and $25 for guests. Reservations are required by Sept. 7 with
payment due at the door. To reserve your seat, RSVP by calling 876-5620 or email lauren.clayton@twcable.com.
Of
her philosophy about advertising, Luna says, “I have
always been taught that ‘All advertising works if done properly.’ I firmly
believe that it’s incumbent upon me as an advertising salesperson to guide my
clients in making advertising decisions that are sound investments. Ultimately
the goal is to make cash registers ring, whether figuratively or literally. This
is the true measure of the success of any advertising campaign.”
A member of AAF-CC for nearly 20 years, Luna has
served in several capacities with the local advertising club. Currently
AAF-CC’s president for 2012-2013, her other roles over the years as a board
member include serving as president in the late 1990s, first vice president
last year, an ADDY Awards co-chair, an AAF District 10 programs committee
member and a member of several of the local club’s committees. In 1999, Luna
created and implemented the club’s “Closer Award” program, which recognizes professionals
on the sales side of advertising.
As
an active community member, Luna has been involved with Kiwanis, Leadership
Corpus Christi and the American Advertising Federation on both local and
district levels. In 2010, she was named Kiii’s “Top Gun of the Year” for her
achievements as an account executive. In 2011, she received AAF-CC’s 2011 “Big
Wig” Award for Best TV Sales Representative.
Luna is a Corpus Christi native who attended Incarnate Word Academy and then graduated from Del Mar College with her associate of arts degree. She has lived in Corpus Christi for all but three years of her life during which time she lived in western Australia.
Luna’s
media career began over 20 years ago. She spent nine years in radio sales and
then moved into the television industry over 10 years ago and has held
positions ranging from account executive to sales manager. She has been with
the Kiii-TV team for about seven years.
