PAUSE-The Creative Community Takes Time Out

We're Assisting "For the Love of Strays" on Oct. 27

Event scheduled at Harrison’s Landing on Peoples Street T-Head with family-oriented activities that include adoption and donation opportunities, pet contests, trick-or-treating and more

Times are tough…even for our four-legged friends who need a little help and community generosity. On Saturday, Oct. 27, the American Advertising Federation-Corpus Christi Chapter (AAF-CC) is taking time to help dogs fostered by volunteers with For the Love of Strays during the third annual “PAUSE-the Creative Community Takes Time Out.”

The AAF-CC-sponsored community service event invites the public to assist with raising much-needed funds to assist For the Love of Strays volunteers to cover costs associated with fostering a pet, including vaccinations, heartworm treatment, check-ups and even spaying and neutering, among other expenses associated with fostering stray and abandoned dogs.

Local animal shelters are full. For many “lost” dogs, their only hope comes from the kindness of humans willing to take them in until these foster pets find their “furr-ever” homes. During PAUSE, volunteers from For the Love of Strays will be on-hand with their foster dogs to adopt out onsite.

PAUSE is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Harrison’s Landing, a pet-friendly establishment, located at 108 Peoples Street T-Head. The event will feature family-oriented activities that include demonstrations, several pet contests, trick-or-treating for pets and their people, a Halloween themed take-your-own-photo opportunity, a decorated pumpkin contest (bring your already pet look-alike decorated pumpkin and compete!), free pet nail clippings and more.

Wristbands sales for $10 per family (up to six people) and $6 for singles will provide for 15% discounts on your tab at Tavern on the Bay and one item not on sale at the Harrison’s Landing Gift Shop as well as 25% discounts on tickets for a Nueces Bay ride on the Japonica.

For the Love of Strays will also offer a HomeAgainTM microchipping clinic. Cost is $25 for a lifetime registration.

Pet parents are encouraged to bring their “best dressed” pet for competition. Organizers also request that owners bring waste bags for their pets and keep them on a leash.

Schedule of activities:

11:00 a.m. – Let PAUSE begin! Pet adoptions, wristband sales for Harrison’s Landing discounts, trick-or-treating for people and their pets and registration for pet and decorated pumpkin contests will continue throughout the event.
